Under Firefox (tested with version 3.5.9), when sorting problems by ascending difficulty, a page change sorts the problems by ascending ID.
This bug is not present with e.g. Internet Explorer 8.

Works fine for me in Firefox. This is a cookies issue; may be a bug on PE's end but perhaps your browser is blocking PE's cookies or something similar?

My Firefox does not block PE's cookies and I can see the cookies called 'p_sort' and 'p_method' to the values 'difficulty' and 'ascending' respectively.

Tested it with Firefox 3.6.3: All the sorting combinations work fine after any number of page changes, so it does not seem to be a bug with the PE site. Your old version of Firefox perhaps ?
