The problems range in difficulty and for many the experience is inductive chain learning. That is, by solving one problem it will expose you to a new concept that allows you to undertake a previously inaccessible problem. So the determined participant will slowly but surely work his/her way through every problem.

Minor ask but would it be possible to change "his/her" -> "their"? I don't think it has any negative consequences and would have the benefit of being more inclusive perhaps.

Well spotted! Project Euler started in 2001 and about five years ago we, the team, undertook a large scale discussion on the use of gender neutral language. This had to all be balanced with an acknowledgement that for many of our members, English is not a first language. After exploring best practices from multiple writing style and guidance sources we reached a consensus. All of our historical problems that used gender unnecessarily were edited. In particular, we replaced the clumsy his/her construct for more natural language. And more importantly, we developed a policy on the wording for future problems moving forward. Somehow that FAQ got missed! I've changed the wording to the following:
