That, in my opinion is not cheating.

Doing research on possible algorithms is fine.

What is cheating, is if you copy / pasted the entire solution from a site -- -- Or worse still copy paste the answer in.
Or went to a page that was directly about "Solving Problem 10 on Project Euler"

There is a fine line between cheating / researching.
I will say however, that this method you used to solve it is a very useful thing for later Project Euler problems.

Later ProjectEuler problems, there won't be like a wiki page to get you the algorithm alone. (Provided you don't go to non-wiki site that tells you directly how to solve the problem)

-- I think that googling stuff like "How to efficiently calculate primes" -- is fine to do.
