Re: Summer 2017 Website Update
Well, you're doing a good job with it as far as I can tell! I have only once noticed an issue with the 'Dark' theme (ignoring my mistake just now), which I guess I should mention while we're on the subject. Now this really is the definition of a minor issue, and has nothing to do with the recent update, but the "original thread" for problem 103 (I won't link directly to it here) is very garish in this view

Even if I don't have the time right now, I always appreciate any issues being reported. As it happens, I do have the time at the moment. It's not perfect, but the old thread should be far more readable now. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Summer 2017 Website Update
Hello,
In the Problem Solving Awards panel on the progress page, a hover box shows the progress status for the corresponding awards when one moves the mouse over it, for most awards. I used to get such a progress status for the Big Game Hunter award, in the mean time I don't get it any more. Is this a planned change or a small bug?
Thank you for this great project.

[edit]Sorry!
I've just realised what you meant. Yes, there was a bug. It should now be fixed. Thank you for reporting it, and please ignore below.[/edit]
Like a number of awards, Big Game Hunter, is not a permanent award. You need to have currently solved at least twenty five of the most fifty difficult problems (as ranked by difficulty). If you go to the Archives page (Recent problems don't have a difficulty rating) and rank the problems in descending order of difficulty. You need to have solved at least half of that page.
At the time of posting the top fifty difficult problems are:

Re: Summer 2017 Website Update
When i updated the "Extra Info" field in my account to "C only", when
looking at my ranking in the statistics page it says "C only ." I updated a couple other times to test
but there is always some formatting commands displayed like &period &comma &plus etc.
Maybe is my browser's problem?
Best regards,
simon

Nothing to do with your browser. It was over-zealous parsing in my script that was causing it. It should be fixed now. Thank you for reporting it.

I see that too. More precisely, this page:LilStalker wrote: Thu Aug 24, 2017 3:11 pm I think the graphs at problems solved statistics are missing.
https://projecteuler.net/problem_analysis
is trying to load these missing images:

Re: Summer 2017 Website Update
I don't know if this is related to this recent update, but I think there is a bug somewhere with handling special characters in solution threads. Specifically if you look at the solution thread for problem 317, a couple of answers by the users monteverdi and backtracking mysteriously cut out. Without giving too much away with what they were saying, I think they were both giving the French translation of the the Spanish phrase Lihyan gave in their answer and what they say is being cut out just when the the character "é" would appear.

Re: Summer 2017 Website Update
I've just checked in the DB and both those posts truncated at the exact same point. Possibly there was a problem with character sets in the past, but there is no reason that French accented characters should not be accepted. Sadly there is no easy way to recover the remainder of those posts.
It does mean that among the many posts in all the threads there may be other posts that have been affected too.

https://projecteuler.net/news
What happened to the title of the news bulletin? It seems to have had the gibberish text "1shell1market" appended to it. Did something get corrupted?
EDIT: unrelated, but the MathJax CDN is no longer operational, and references to "//cdn.mathjax.org/mathjax/latest/MathJax.js" should be updated, see https://www.mathjax.org/cdn-shutting-down/

Re: Summer 2017 Website Update
Hi,
I have noticed a minor issue:
projecteuler.net/show=all works well showing all the published Euler problems.
But, hereafter, projecteuler.net/show=unsolved only shows the unsolved non recent problems.
I was used to load all my unsolved problems by this way.
Regards,
Lucky92.

Thanks for letting me know. That was an oversight with the re-write. It should be working again now.

Re: Summer 2017 Website Update
The content is now correct, but surprisingly, the more recent problems are provided in the decreasing order.euler wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 9:32 am Thanks for letting me know. That was an oversight with the re-write. It should be working again now.

Re: Summer 2017 Website Update
euler,
For some countries (Poland and Germany, for example), the top solver's position is shown as '1=' even though he is way far above the second solver.

It is not knowledge, but the act of learning, not possession but the act of getting there, which grants the greatest enjoyment.

Re: Summer 2017 Website Update
All members at the maximum level get ranked as "1=" because once you hit the maximum level it randomises the order of those members. Sadly I hadn't coded it to be clever enough to realise that there is only one member at the maximum level for a particular category. It should be fixed now. (Caches may take time to update.)
