Re: Awards Update
Nice to see the awards updates! To be honest, I was recently thinking about awards and thought that some more interesting ones could be added, but expected that adding any is probably not on the radar of admins, so I didn't share my ideas, too bad :p I suppose that now it is too late for that, but I'll share my thoughts anyway:
1) There is an abundance of awards "solve problems whose indices have this specific number theoretical property" (like Fibonacci, triangular, etc.). Such awards inherently focus on solving problems with low indices and the first hundred problems is not something exciting enough to have so many awards centered around them, so I find that boring. I think it would be nicer if the sets of problems referenced by awards were more scattered throughout this huge set of over 9 hundred problems
2) I think it would be nice if there were more completionists awards that can be seen as stepping stones towards the ultimate "Perfection" award. For example, I think that completing each of the 9 grids on the progress page could have a separate award tied to it, i.e. solving problems with indices [100(k-1)+1, 100k] for some integer 1<=k<=9 (the only grid that has it for now is - you guessed it - [1, 100] grid!). Or "solve all 100% rated problems". Or "solve last 100 problems in the archive" (I know there is one for 25, but 25 is low!). I'm a decent solver, but I doubt I will ever even be close to achieving Perfection, so the only award that I don't have that I consider as a both interesting and not completely out of reach is "D for Dedication". Big Game Hunter was an interesting one, but I have that for a long time already. Decimator awards are not interesting to me as they can be easily cheesed by just choosing easy problems to solve, so they are quite modest goals.

Re: Awards Update
I was also thinking about connecting rewards with tags. Something like:
Pro-Gamer - solve 50 problems with "Game" tag
Faster than light - solve all problems with "Sublinear-number-theoretic-summation" tag
Geometry Lover - solve 50 problems with "Geometry" tag
And stuff like that. There is a big amount of possibilites for such awards and they can encourage people to solve some later and harder problems

Re: Awards Update
New bug: if you click on the minimal button (the orange one that says HTML in the top right) on problem -1, it leads to an exact replica of the About page.

Re: Awards Update
Obviously members who have unlocked bonus problems can view the HTML. But as these problems are hidden from normal view and are not meant to be shared anywhere, it wouldn't make any sense to add a link to display the raw HTML. To avoid that confusion, I've removed the "minimal" link from the problem view page for bonus problems.

I've got some too:Swistakk wrote: Wed Nov 27, 2024 11:46 pm Nice to see the awards updates! 1. Get a complete row and a complete column in every 100-problem block.
2. Solve at least half of the problems for every difficulty tier.

Re: Awards Update
Can we get hint on how exactly bonus problems are awarded? Is it purely random (as I think most people suspect)? If so, what are the chances? Does it depend on the time/difficulty/number of solves?
Also, I definitely think that bonus problems should not require you to click them on the solved screen, so that people can't possibly miss them by accident. I did not miss any this way, but it did take me 76 solves to unlock all the bonus problems. I know the fewest needed to unlock all 4 was at most 13, but there could be even more extreme counts

Re: Awards Update
Another idea for an award:
Solve 20 problems of difficulty 5%, 19 problems of difficulty 10%, ... , 1 problem of 100%. So it looks like a pyramid. In total it's 210 problems with average difficulty ~37%.
Even more challenging version could be with step 2: 39+37+ ... +1 = 400 problems.
They can be called Mountain Fiji and Mountain Everest

Re: Awards Update
I remember reading that it takes time to correctly update all previously gotten awards for so many users, but it's been 1.5 months and I am still missing some awards that I should definitely be having (whose requirements were not updated, e.g. "solve last 10 problems"). Is it a bug, or does this process really take that long?

Re: Awards Update
Which awards are you referring to? For Ten Out Of Ten (Solve the ten most recent problems), once you have solved the ten most recent problems it will permanently unlock. If you had it once, you should not have lost it.

Re: Awards Update
As I look at my awards, it seems it is just the three of the form "solve X most recent problems" (for X=5, 10, 25). I unlocked X=10 and X=25 at 24th August for the interval 879-903 and I even have a screenshot of (unintentionally) sniping three awards with one problem lol

I think they were gone in November, likely because of the awards update. I think I should be able to regain them back at some point, but I'd definitely need to wait for 910 to get out of the pool of 25 most recent problems

Re: Awards Update
I was not aware that anyone had lost those awards. I am very sorry about that, as they are not easily earned awards. Your screenshot and date reference was really helpful as I was able to quickly verify when you have earned those awards and I have restored them to your profile.

Re: Awards Update
Were the bonus problems' name updated recently, or are there more than 4?
I have unlocked 3, but in the forum of the first one, people mention names of problems that do not coincide with my other 2.
If names were not changed, this means that there are more than 4 problems, and I guess one cannot unlock the whole set?

Re: Awards Update
There are currently four bonus problems. It seems that they are assigning negative IDs in order so as to not give away their actual names. Coincidentally, the first one is...

Although I can calculate the mean difficulty for myself, it was good to see the mean difficulty on the progress page. Now, after the new rewards update, the mean difficulty is gone in the progress page.

Re: Awards Update
Oh, right, I somehow missed that is gone, but I'd definitely want to see mean difficulty back! I have liked to think that my friend Radewoosh is so bad that he can't even solve problems whose difficulties average more than the overall mean difficultyi707107 wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 7:11 am Although I can calculate the mean difficulty for myself, it was good to see the mean difficulty on the progress page. Oops! I forgot to add it back in. I've just updated the scripts to include the mean scores for difficulty.

Re: Awards Update
I noticed that the list on the page https://projecteuler.net/award=55 (Mount Euler) is much shorter than I would expect. Most of the 900+ members don't show up, which I find implausible. Also some of the friends with very high success rates should have the award, but don't seem to do so (I have even observed a case where the award had been granted and withdrawn). Is there a bug or did I misunderstand the conditions of the award?

Re: Awards Update
I'm not aware of any changes, but it's possible there is a bug. Is there a particular member that you were thinking had it before who doesn't have it now?
