Project Euler Android App

Project Euler News Feed wrote:Cathal Coffey has for some time been working on developing a free Android App which synchronises with Project Euler (problem and your progress), it allows you to search the problem database, and it even allows you to submit answers. For those who like to think about problems on the go then this nicely written free App is worth checking out.

Cathal is keen to receive constructive feedback and fix any bugs which might be discovered; he is also open to suggestions for new features. So if you find the App useful and/or would like to offer some feedback then (use this) thread.

I found the "unsolved", it is working great!

It is a great app!

If I may suggest, it would be nice to add user-side classification of the problems (or solutions). Nothing more than user entered tags, which would allow find similarly-themed problems. (They are not shared online...)

Thank you for your efforts!

ProjectEuler is an Android application that connects to projecteuler.net. It displays a users progress, allows a user to solve any problem and provides full offline access to the complete list of ProjectEuler questions. II became really addicted to the website. I was trying to plan the next problem each morning during my bus ride to work. I even ended up printing the first 50 questions. So I wrote this app to make it easier for me to keep track of my progress, to help me plan my next problem and to save trees.

I don't think it is on Google Play anymore. As far as I know the API the app used isn't working anymore so you can't login etc.

I do not think there is a working API for project euler at the moment, but maybe I'm wrong.

I created an app which parses the problems out of the html.

You can download it here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ewer&hl=de

If you encounter any bugs or have suggestions for improvement please let me know.

best regards.

I'm developing a new Android app for Project Euler; it doesn't seem like the previously listed ones exist anymore (the links are dead for me, and I couldn't find anything obvious by searching "Project Euler" from Google's Play store). I'm still working on adding the ability to submit answers to the website as well as a couple of other things (improved formatting; I'm not sure what to do with the math yet as I'd like to avoid embedding web views if possible).

I'll come post a link once my app is on the Play Store, and I plan to put to code on GitHub at release as well, so it should be possible to keep the project alive even if I don't keep maintaining it forever. Before I release it, though, does Project Euler have any opinions about, e.g., the name of the app? Ideally I would just name it "Project Euler" if that's not taken, otherwise some slight variation on that. Is that okay, or does that imply this is app is official / endorsed by Project Euler? I think it would make the app the easiest to find + use, but I'm happy to name it something else if there might be issues (in the app description, I'll make it clear this is not an official app). I've read the copyright page on the website and am glad to see the problems themselves can be used freely; I just wanted to check about the name or any other considerations before I publish an app interface to Project Euler.

Thanks!

Who's the target audience? I've answered a few PE questions on my phone on the bus or in the café in my coffee break, and the only app I needed was qPython3.

Actually running code is, in my opinion, out of scope for a Project Euler app, so I'm not trying to replicate that (I use Termux to run Julia code). The app is just an easier mobile interface than the website. It downloads everything ahead of time, so you can use it offline. I find it easier for quickly pulling up problems / browsing through them. You can also save text (presumably code but could also just be notes) for each problem, which was important for me on my phone. It's not really necessary, but I wrote it mainly for fun / learning and lowering the activation energy required for me personally to look at a problem. Some problems aren't going to be a good fit for solving on your phone, though (e.g. Problem 22 (have to download a file); ones like Problem 13 are more annoying too (have to copy-paste numbers from the problem statement)).
