Hairsplitting Curiosity (w/ Alliteration)...

Post by kenbrooker » Mon Dec 24, 2018 3:27 am

How is it that in PE Solution threads a poster will reference a previous poster yet there is...
No such previous poster's post?

I see this fairly often. For example re PE Problem 517, on Sat, 23 May 2015,
mtomek writes: "Same idea as apia."
Yet I find no post by apia...

But don't let that keep apia or anyone else anonymous from...
Having Happy Holidays!!!
:D

https://projecteuler.net/about=aliases
If you hover over a poster's name in a solution thread (specifically the ones that are in italics, which indicates it is an alias), you will see a tooltip showing the account username. Unfortunately the quoting system always seems to display the username, not its alias.

Detective jaap,

Thanks for the speedy reply and the pertinent link and
I'm happy with what you've taught me and,
Only if you're still curious,
I still can't find apia!!!

Just as you described, there's only one italicized
YuezhengLing above mtomek and
hovering shows xudyh...

I thought for sure we had found our man!
Maybe he changed his alias?!
There ought to be a law!
And Another Thing... :D

This is the guy you are looking for :)

Sadly you cannot track all the aliases. All you can get is the persons current alias or his original name. However if the person is regularly changing his aliases, he will be harder to track down in problem threads :)
