### [Solved] Sorry, but you cannot view another member's profile

I just started getting this error message when trying to access profiles:
"Sorry, but you cannot view another member's profile."
I get this message at URLs such as:
http://projecteuler.net/index.php?secti ... herwindsor

I have a bot that checks to see how many problems people have solved for a university leaderboard. How am I supposed to keep that working if I can't see other people's profiles?

Thanks.

It's not an error but policy on our side.
See: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2007&start=0
(Perhaps you can write a bot that uses http://www.newocr.com/)
Or alternatively, assuming that your colleagues have all entered the same country name parse the country stats.

Another possibity we did not yet dicuss in the team is that we replace the country with your universities name so that all maintenance is done on our side.

What it all boils down to is that running bots on profile pages is assuming that nothing will change and is resource consuming on our side.

I am wondering why not provide a CAPTCHA based viewing of the user profile?

puzzle is a euphemism for lack of clarity

I've just added a feature to allow the same information shown in the image to be viewed as either XML format or a comma separated string.

For example, the http://projecteuler.net/profile/KristopherWindsor.xml gave the following XML output just now:

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<profile>
<country>USA</country>
<language>Java</language>
<solved>101</solved>
<level>3</level>
</profile>
And http://projecteuler.net/profile/KristopherWindsor.txt returned "KristopherWindsor,USA,Java,101,3".
