Rust 1.0!

Post by Apoph1s » Sun Jan 11, 2015 4:25 am

What do you guys think of the new and promising language; Rust[1]? Its a general purpose language that fills in any niche that C/C++ does with the same speed but safer and its primary focuses are "performance, safety, and concurrency". Im using Rust to solve the challenges.

I just recently hit 1.0 alpha :D

Well, never heard of it, nor do I program in C/C++.

The link seem inaccessible. Try http://www.rust-lang.org instead. That's what's worked for me.

I have used Rust to solve 4 or 5 problems. My experience has been that while it seems to be a good language to program in, it needs a library like the C++ STL, there are some good crates out there though. Also, understanding / getting used to the "borrowing" concept takes some time.

I solved the first thirty-one problems in Rust, I think Rust is very good for solving PE problems. Switching over to Scala, just to try out another programming language. If there are any programming language enthusiasts out there, consider adding me a friend.
