Re: Syntax highlighting for python/python2/python3

Interestingly, there are only 15 matches for "code=python2", but there are 384 matches for "code=python3". I guess I could do a global replace in the DB, but in case a distinction needs to be made in the future and because some will continue to use "python3" after I've ...

Re: "You are the nth person to solve this problem"

Anomalies can occur and when someone deletes their account or resets progress it means that the overall problem count may no longer be accurately reflected. So when someone solves a problem successfully it is used as an opportunity to synchronise this data. Adding extra data, like the position which...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

MathJax dynamically generates the mathematics as the page loads and unfortunately I have no control over this at all. It's not really a perfect solution to your problem, but in the top right corner of each problem page is a small folder type icon which will display the raw HTML.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

There certainly was a miscount and I'm not sure how it happened. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Did you find that you'd solved a problem recently and your count went up by two or do you think it'd been like that for some time and you'd only just noticed that the two counters were not i...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

No, it's not a permanent award. Unfortunately, the system does not constantly scan member accounts to decide if they have/have not earned awards. Instead it happens when they solve a problem or visit their own progress page. So for other members who are not at the new maximum level, then their profi...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

I'm not able to reproduce that. I've tried it in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and IE on Windows. I'm currently using version 85.0.4183.83 (Official Build) (64-bit) of Chrome. What version of Chrome are you using? Is it possible you've got a plug-in enabled that might be causing it? If you press Ctrl+Shift...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

Thank you for reporting that. It was a small, but important modification to the scripts I'd forgotten to make with the recent back-end changes. It should be working again now.

Re: Website Maintenance 30 July 2020

I am only able to reproduce the problem if I change the zoom level of my browser. But I've added "display: flow-root" to the parent division and that should fix the problem caused by the floating image extending outside of its container.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

You're absolutely right and I'm glad you mentioned it because I don't like having errors like that. Interestingly, I had a look at the backup I did before the recent maintenance (30 July 2020) and I had previously used the word "affect". I was working on the back-end changes on my local ma...

Re: Website Maintenance 30 July 2020

The server might have been under unusual load, but I've just tested it several times and it didn't seem to be slow right now. The scripts have quite a lot to do when a problem is solved, but we'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for taking the time to report it.

Re: Statistics on login page. i.e. does not require to register

I know it is possible to restrict access to compliant web crawlers, but some of them out there do not respect rules. So to avoid having every link followed I have put the Statistics pages within the membership pages. However, what I've just done is added a paragraph to the About page for visitors (t...

Re: Show only top members when too many members to show all

I've modified the scripts because there were some inconsistencies in how it was handling different situations. I've changed the column heading in the summary table for location and languages to say, "Proportion of Members at Level 1+", but it now includes the actual frequency total in brac...

Re: Website Maintenance 30 July 2020

I traced the issue to a peculiar change I'd made to one of the classes, so now it's got me wondering why I made that change. It's possible this might have an unintended consequence elsewhere. Anyway, the row highlight in the tables should be working again now, but you may need to hard refresh your c...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

This is all very helpful. Thank you.

It was the same issue you mentioned with the "levels" summary page. I have now double checked all of the other scripts and awards was the only other one. They should all be working as expected now.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

Thanks for persisting with it. I figured out the issue and it should all be working again now. Rather than delete all the cached data, I'll let everything update naturally, but in the meantime I've fixed level 5 right now. For some reason I wasn't modifying the cache identifiers for the purge list w...

Re: Website Maintenance 30 July 2020

Thank you, RagnarGrootKoerkamp. That's a keen eye you've got there. Thank you for the helpful tips too. I've made the changes you suggested and tidied up a couple of sloppy insertions, but I couldn't find an empty anchor tag. The only anchor tag in each cell makes it a clickable direct link to the p...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

Thanks for reporting that error, Ignis_Necrosy. The levels summary page was not making a distinction between all and active members. There are only 629 active members at level 5, so there should only be 7 pages. I've fixed it so that the member count should be correct now. What were you doing to get...

Re: Website Maintenance 30 July 2020

I like everything to be just right, so I'm grateful to you for reporting these issues. I've fixed the issue with problem 716. In the main style sheet the maximum width was set to 100%, so if the image is larger than the container, then it will never be larger. Resizing the window scales the image ac...
