Re: Problem 755

So that's my question: does S(1) = 1 or 2? And by extension, can lone Fibonacci terms form sums? E.g., does f(13) count "13" as one of the sums? Yes, $13$ counts towards $f(13)$: a sum is permitted to have a single term. $f(1)=1$ because the single term $1$ qualifies as a sum. $f(0)=1$ wa...

[...] I ask because, under Pattern1, the intermediate squares are part of the final probability distribution, whereas under Pattern2, they are not. I have merged this with the existing thread for Problem 084. Pattern 1 is closer to the truth. On rolling a double that is not the third consecutive, t...

Re: Publishing the Solution (About-Site)

Hello, First of all, I wanted to sincerely apologize, for until today I had public GitHub repositories showcasing some project euler solutions. I was using these repositories mainly as a means to showcase my coding skills to potential employers. What I have done now is made the repositories private...

Please help me, I don't find which Awards I've earned, I only see how many I earned in "Friends". It can be found under your "Progress" page. From there you will see five sub-tabs: "Problems", "Levels", " Awards ", "Posts", "History&q...

Re: Error in solution to problem 8

Hi hbhatia, Welcome to Project Euler! I have verified that the answer on the site for 8 is indeed correct. Note also that it has been solved by 351674 people already. If you'd like to send me a private message with which 13 adjacent digits of the 1000-digit number give rise to your answer, I'll take...

No worries! It's applied retroactively, so you are now appearing in the list for 726 at 52nd.

Re: Not appearing on the fastest solver's list

Hi. I recently completed problem 726. I was 51st or 52nd to solve it, but my username hasn't appeared on the list. I can't think of any reason this might have happened other than that I am currently not yet level 1? Anyway, thanks in advance. Welcome to Project Euler! In order to appear in the &quo...

Thank you.
I have verified that the system accepts the correct answer for this one.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

Hi, I am having trouble opening the thread for Problem 497. Chrome would load a few posts but when I scrolled down further, it became just a blank screen. Maths formulas were not rendered and code sections would not open. Thank you for reporting this. I cannot load the thread either: the Chrome tab...

I th...

You can take it to be base $e$ ... but actually it doesn't matter because a different base would just scale all speeds by the same constant without affecting the sequence of events.

Re: Problem 684

Do you have to find the smallest digit sum for each term of the fibonacci sequence from the 2nd to the 90th? No, that is not correct. $S(n)$ is not digitsum. Instead, $s(n)$ is the inverse digit sum, so $\mathrm{digitsum}(s(n)) = n$. Note also that $S$ is the sum of $s$. So, (given a Fibonacci numb...

Re: Problem 689

Your values of $f$ are correct (albeit with the interpretation of the $\pi^2/6$ value as a limiting case, because $f(x)$ is only defined if $x$ is strictly less than 1).

For answer format, the leading zero is required, as in 0.abcdefgh
