Re: Missing Wedding Ring Finger

I think I might have an answer in the working.

The woman is someone who was suspected for murder, but whose execution was suspended 30 years ago due to some evidence. However, the evidence has recently been cleared up and the man is her executioner.

Re: A quick problem for you!

I did get it right, but not because I figured out the boat-thing. But I calculated; 1cm per 20 minutes = 3cm per hour. 3 hours of rising water then makes it a 9cm rise in total. And since they were 12cm apart, it wouldn't be enough to cover the next rung. So yeah, I was smart but not clever enough!...

Re: Problem 014

Okay. I definitely went over the one minute mark. I'm at 5 minutes, and its only at the 60,000th number. Also, if anyone's at the point where their program stops partially through, switch your IDE to limited buffering. edit: Huh. I comment out the println statement, and rerun it, and it returns with...

Re: Problem 012

In that case, I'm left with this question: why isn't my program calculating correctly for one or more numbers? The triangle numbers are right, so there must be something wrong with the divisors method. But I can't figure out what it might be. The thing is, its a brute force method, so it SHOULDN'T ...

Re: Problem 012

Okay. So here's my problem: After fixing my program's speed, I got the number within half a minute. However, when I input the number, it says that its not the answer. Properties of my number: -576 divisors -index of more than 16000 Also, I checked my data with a triangle number calculator and a divi...

Re: Problem 003

Anybody done this in java? I'm working with java and i am confused which data type to use to hold this number 600851475143. My compiler is showing error "integer number too large: 600851475143" ! But I thought this number is within the range of long. It does fit in a long, but it tries to interpret...
