Re: New Preferred Programming Language Requests

You sent me an email on 17 August and I replied the same day. Perhaps your inbox refused my reply. I'll copy below the part that is relevant now that you've posted here. Because there are so many languages that we cannot know about ourselves, we depend on Wikipedia to verify their legitimacy. In add...

Re: Code Highlighting in Discussion Threads -- Literate Haskell

Unfortunately I don't have any control over custom management of the syntax colouring. We make use of the superb highlight.js library and it looks like your language is not currently supported: https://github.com/highlightjs/highlight.js/tree/main/src/languages Maybe you, or someone else in your lan...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

@SaxTenor: Having that award as a clickable link was an oversight. It is not longer clickable. Although you can earn the award, and anyone who does earn it should be very proud, we do not display which members have earned it. Although it is an incredible achievement and the vast majority have earned...

Re: The problems' titles should also appear in the HTML <title> tags

Somehow I'd missed this. Good suggestion. I've modified the title to display: "#{id} {description} - Project Euler".

Hi, Gal. Most of your questions relating to this are probably addressed here:

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

Hi, Yly. I've tried twice now to reproduce, leaving the page open for a couple of hours then submitting an answer, and I am not experiencing the problem. I've checked through the scripts and I cannot find a redirect directly to the archives page AFTER your last submission has been processed. Are you...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

Thank you for pointing that out. It should now be fixed. I did a DB search and there don't seem to be any more instances of that relic.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and your analysis was spot on. I was using a fairly strong encoding function primarily for security purposes, which is way stronger than needed for that. So I am wondering if I'd done that at some point in the past to ensure that some special characters from ...

We'll wait to see if anyone else reports something similar. But thank you for taking the time to report the issue. It's always very helpful to have information like this if I should need to investigate the matter.

Re: Behaviour on correct answer

Even though you're entering a correct answer, there will still be a 30 second timeout between submissions. I'm assuming you must have entered an incorrect answer just before entering the correct answer and after you waited for 30 seconds your correct answer was accepted? Or are you saying that the a...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

No, the functionality was removed some time ago. The number of problems in the DB had grown so large that generating so much data (problem text and images) had become unreasonable. Instead we introduced a much better and more manageable feature that allows you to "pin" up to twenty-five pr...

Re: Buddy solver

It's a really good idea. I've shared it with the team and we'll discuss ways in which something like this could be best implemented for those who want to take advantage of such a system. Privacy is always a priority for us, so we'd need to ensure that any system allowing the sharing of contact detai...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

Hi, Claude. It used to say how recently each member had solved a problem, but unless you found somewhere I missed, we changed it some time ago so that it now displays "____ was active ____ ago" or "____ was active within the past day". Active simply means they have visited the si...

Re: Misleading title for Problem 001

The phrase could be an ellipsis for "Multiples of 3 and (multiples of) 5", but you make a very good point. It is always best to remove ambiguity wherever possible, so I've modified according to your suggestion. Thank you for pointing it out. It's peculiar that it hasn't been mentioned unti...

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs

Yes, it was a bit of a headache. The new certificate was renewed one month before it expired, but it seems that it has become a two-step process now with our hosts thanks to the the joys of GDPR. It should all be working now and I'm better aware of the new process that means it shouldn't happen agai...
